Programs

The Center seeks to achieve its objectives through the implementation of the following programs:

1. Program for the Support of Biotechnological Research

The Center provides financial support for distinguished research projects in biotechnology by allotting a sum of 30 million Saudi Riyals, which represents 66% of its overall funds. The Center also provides support for researchers by supplying them with advanced biotechnological lab equipment and by attracting and training technicians and researchers to operate the main systems. The Center is currently in the process of creating a database to be linked to its website and which would include researchers, research projects in progress, and published work in the field of biotechnology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

2. Programs for Attracting Distinguished Scholars

The Center seeks to recruit distinguished scholars through research institutes and academies to serve as consultants. The Center is currently engaged in joint cooperation research activities with some of the finest international scholars.

3. International Research Cooperation Program

The Center seeks to build cooperation ties with international biotechnology research centers. It has already signed joint cooperation agreements in the field of research with a number of regional and international centers.

4. Program for the Development of Education and Training in the Field of Biotechnology

The Center works in conjunction with the University departments towards developing Master and Ph.D. programs in biotechnology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also organizes meetings, conferences, and workshops, and invites local as well as international scholars to participate in them. The center also seeks to upgrade the professional performance of faculty members and scholars in the field of biotechnology by setting up summer institutes geared to enhance scientific communication among scholars and graduate students through cooperation with international centers.

5. Program for the Enhancement of Partnership between the Center and the Different Sectors

The Center seeks to provide both the public and private sectors with full support in order to transfer biotechnology to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

6. Program for the Dissemination of Knowledge in the Field of Biotechnology across society

The Center seeks to create an information and public relations unit in order to disseminate knowledge in the field of biotechnology. This is carried out through the organization of public lectures, the publication of articles, handbooks, brochures, etc. The Center also seeks to participate in related activities and occasions.
