Distinguished Research Criteria and Encouragement of Promotional Incentives

 

Introduction:

The University requirements documented in the letter of Vice President for Knowledge Exchange and Technology Transfer - KETT and Chairman of the Center of Excellence in Biotechnology Research - CEBR (number 229887/7/1 and date of 08.11.1430 H (attached)), which is based on the recommendations of the Special Committee for extensively promoting scientific publishing in journals listed in Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) database, include the need for University Centers of Research Excellence to published annually 30 scientific research papers listed in ISI database.

In alignment with the Center administration's view of the belonging principle, and to benefit from the research activity of researchers who are involved in biotechnology, fellow researchers have been already urged to affiliate themselves with the Center in their scientific publications. And to encourage and promote outstanding scientific publishing, according to the University aspirations, with which it is working to achieve in all University research centers, the CEBR has decided to pay promotional incentives to researchers who have scientific publications affiliated with the Center.

 

The Acceptance:

In reference to the approval of his Excellency Rector of the University (09/01/1432 H, 12/15/2010 AD), based on his commentary on the letter by Vice President for KETT and Chairman of the CEBR (number 388843/2/9 and date of 30/12/1431 H, 06/12/2010 AD), regarding the decision of the Board of Directors of the CEBR in its sixth meeting (02/12/1431 H, 11/08/2010 AD) for approving the payment of promotional incentives for scientific publications based on the recommendation of the Executive Committee at its seventeenth meeting held on 10/11/1431 H (18/10/2010 AD).

 

Resolution:

The approval to pay promotional incentives for scientific publications, based on the following procedure:

1 - To provide the CEBR with a research paper published or accepted in a peer reviewed scientific journals listed in ISI databases including affiliation to CEBR as follows:

2 - The submitted publication should not be an output of CEBR funded project.

3 - The Scientific Committee will study the submitted research paper to make sure it is listed in ISI database and it is not an output of CEBR funded project.

4 - The value of the incentive is limited to 5000 SR (five thousand Saudi Riyals) for each publication, to be paid to the "Corresponding Author" of the publication.

5 - The allocated incentives are limited to the available budget for that purpose in the CEBR.

 

Application flow:

1 - The "Corresponding Author" should address his Excellency Director of the CEBR with a letter requesting the approval for scientific research promotional incentive. The following documents should be attached:


A) The published scientific paper (hard copy + electronic version).
B) Classification of the journal, in which the paper was published, according to the database listed by ISI.

 

2 - The published research paper with CEBR affiliation will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee to make sure that it meets the above conditions.

3 - The recommendations of the Scientific Committee will be sent to the Executive Committee.

4 - If approved, the promotional incentive will be paid in case allocated budget is available.
